Crusade

Centre for Rural Systems and Development (CRUSADE), founded in 1991, works closely with communities to alleviate poverty and to bring about sustainable changes that improve the lives and livelihoods of the poor. CRUSADE works in around 200 villages in four development blocks of Minjur, Sholavarm, Ellapuram and Gummidipoondi in rural Tiruvallur district, north of Chennai, covering 250,000 population.

joined CRUSADE along with Vijayaraman in 1998 . He is a founder Manager of VASANTHAM, established in Varusanadu area in erstwhile Madurai district and later became part of Theni district when the former was bifurcated. He along with a team of dedicated staff has been providing various services to tribal and other marginalized communities. He was instrumental in containing Leprosy and Tuberclosis in the area, running a clinic treating patients and building awareness. Vasantham promoted Women SHGs which has been setting up dairy cooperatives for remunerative price for milk produced by poor women and in marketing silk cotton through a Trust.
