CRUSADE champions sustainable practices by encouraging the consumption of organically grown fruits and vegetables. Through initiatives like tree plantation, kitchen gardens, and herbal plants promotion, they empower Women Self-Help Groups (WSHGs) and Special Groups of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) to lead eco-friendly lifestyles. Recently, CRUSADE extended its efforts by collaborating with Panchayats to plant tree saplings on common land, fostering environmental stewardship and long-term community benefits.
CRUSADE provides vegetable seeds and tree saplings
to WSHGs and PwDs, enabling them to cultivate organic produce at home.
Kitchen Gardens:Women members and PwDs receive a variety of
vegetable seeds to grow at their homesteads, enhancing food security
and promoting organic cultivation.
Fruit Seedlings: The distribution of diverse fruit seedlings encourages small-scale fruit farming, adding nutritional and economic value to households.
Collaborating with local Panchayats and Health Committees, CRUSADE has facilitated large-scale tree plantations in Athur and Natham Panchayats: Athur Panchayat planted 160 saplings across 1.5 acres of common land. Natham Panchayat: Embracing the initiative on a larger scale, the panchayat planted 500 fruit seedlings over 9 acres. In the Panchayat to ensure the saplings survive, CRUSADE installed a bore well, facilitating irrigation and nurturing a sustainable green space.
CRUSADE's environmental efforts extend beyond tree planting and vegetable cultivation—they empower communities to take ownership of sustainable practices. By fostering partnerships with WSHGs, PwDs and Panchayats, they create eco-friendly landscapes that improve the environment and quality of life. With every tree planted and cultivated garden, CRUSADE builds a greener, healthier future overall.
